I don't see why a Raspberry Pi computer needs to be best at something. What's important is that it's good enough for a number of different tasks. The same is true with people. Contrary to what popular psychologists might say, a person doesn't have to be best at anything to be of great value and make worthwhile contributions to the world.There has to be some objective behind every sbc, something it does best and not try to be general purpose college kid stuff... Otherwise there are alternatives like intel nuc or a mobile phone.., BTW a mobile is also "somewhat" general purpose... So anyone can run chromium directly on their mobile phones...
I think the smart phone is also an interesting case. It isn't the best phone, nor best browser, nor best camera, nor best television, nor best music player, nor best game machine, nor best GPS navigation system and the list goes on. But a smart phone is good enough at many tasks to be useful.
For me the Intel NUC is more mysterious. Since Intel sold the NUC brand to ASUS last year, maybe it wasn't good enough at enough different tasks.
