It might be worth noting this on the TV Hat page on raspberrypi.com as it currently suggests the TV Hat works with any 40-pin Raspberry Pi, even if it's a (hopefully) temporary issue until the RP1 / SPI driver used in the Pi 5 is fixed. (It's been quite a while since this was first reported so let's hope it can be fixed)There is a problem with the SPI driver on Pi5.
It gets triggered when the Pi is busy (specifically sdram bandwidth is saturated).
It results in "spi_master spi0: RX FIFO overflow detected" which is not recoverable without a reboot.
The issues does not affect Pi0-4. There is no current fix for Pi5.
I'd bought two Pi 5s to use with TV Hats as more powerful media processors than my Pi 4 and Pi 3 variants - but have had to re-think due to the current incompatibility between the 5 and the TV Hat.
