The way you said it I thought you meant inside the pool range. Of course outside the pool is fine.On my Virgin Media router I can set the range of DHCP address so no risk of collisions providing fixed IP are outside that range. And no need to set assigned IP based on MAC Address.@hippy re:I'm sure you know this is bad practice because an address in the DHCP pool has no knowledge of a statically configured host and thus the same IP addtess can be handed out to a DHCP client.So one first gets a DHCP assigned address, then it can become a Fixed IP Address.
