So for this guy the Pi worked and then suddenly stopped with this error. Seems worrisome. Properly designed electronics don't just die.
Of course they do. Everything has a lifetime.

You could have the most perfectly designed electronics in the world, but have a manufacturing fault that means it fails before its time.

We are currently making about 50k Pi5's a week IIRC. If there was something to be worried about there, I think we would have had more reports.
The Bathtub curve applies to the majority of electronics.
Production line testing should weed out most of the early infant mortality issues, but electronics do degrade over time.
In fact, it's not just electronics. Similar rules apply to pretty much anything man made. Everything has a MTBF.

If there was "something to be worried about"; it'd be all over the internet. It's always been quite hard to hide such issues. History is littered with manufacturing and design faults that they tried hard not to own up to; but word got out anyway. Now, it would be nigh on impossible to keep it quiet. That the various internet forums are not awash with such reports; suggest that there isn't an issue. 8-)
