Are you saying this is an issue that occurs with 6.6 kernel and not with 6.1 kernel?

I've never seen this happen on 6.1 kernel.

Whenever I've forced a mode from kernel command line on 6.1 the screen come up with what I've requested.

Also not seen this behavior when modifiying wayfire.ini (not changing the resolution but orientation only) on 6.1.
