I was thinking the same thing and sent an email to the manufacturer Waveshare. Unfortunately they have 2 weeks of vacationIt sems your display has either SPI or I2C interface. Factory default is SPI.
Have you changed the BSx jumpers?
Can you make a picture of the backside of your display?
