That's a really interesting idea.
What might be interesting is hearing how many download/installs are being done from the Installer and what is the breakdown of the different images, since that would likely reflect the "general" user population. If most are downloading the "with Recommended" maybe there is value to trying to see what the most popular missing packages are. The corporate user base likely runs off custom built images.
Installing software is easy for anyone with basic experience in Linux.
Not so easy for newcomers. Apt or the graphical package manager can be confusing or even daunting.
