Python • Re: How does a u-shaping coder work

Is there an add-on board that I can buy to add more GPIO for example I have a add-on board that controls about six or eight servos. All the servos are for pin wires I have figured out the pin outs of all of the servos The only thing I got to figure out now is the pin out of the u-shaped encoders to really take this project to the next level. I'm currently using an Arduino NodeMCU. Would this project be better served using a raspberry pi with a touch screen or a screen. I'm going to say the turntable is where all the pills are stored on top of each pill cup has a slot that it goes in. Just trying to get this working because the company wants way too much money plus a monthly subscription.
I doubt the only thing you have to figure out is the pinout of the slotted opto switches, but both of your questions have been answered. memjr recommended the MCP23017 for extra GPIO, and the slotted opto switch pinout is in the second link I gave you.

You have been working on this project since 2021, just to save $29 a week:

You were originally using Python on a Raspberry Pi. Presumably you are now using an ESP8266 NodeMCU. A touch screen is not going to help at all.

Whilst I commend your perseverance I'd recommend a different project. Even if you got everything going your "pill dispenser" will probably kill you, or somebody else.
