Raspberry Pi OS • Re: Installing new software directly to an image in a chroot (Botspot)

Well, ping and ssh work from inside the chroot, so the network seems OK. /etc/resolv.conf is what it should be.

And, I googled the error message (which I probably should have done earlier) and most of the messages say that it *is* just a proxy for "You're out of disk space". I have always said that the apt ecosystem has really crummy error messages - just about any error you get (regardless of what it purports to say) is either "You are not root" or "You are out of disk space".

There was one message to the effect that you need to load the keyring, using apt-key. But I didn't follow the details.

Anyway, it looks like I need to "extend" the image - make it bigger. It was at 96% used, with about 20M free. I removed everything in /var/cache/apt/archives and it went up to 300M free - which still isn't enough to install "ffmpeg" (which brings in a *lot* of dependencies). Can you (or anyone else) give me the steps for making an image file larger?

BTW, I suppose I could just start over with by downloading the full desktop image instead of the lite image. I assume that would already have ffmpeg installed. But I'd still like to know how to make the image bigger for future needs.
