The facts of the matter are these:
1) There really isn't any good reason to "upgrade" - if what you have works.
2) Once a certain point is reached, OSes tend to get worse not better. The "Change or Die" principle comes into play.
I need not say more about that, other than, yes, that's why Windows XP is still a thing.
