Troubleshooting • Red light of doom

Hi,

I wonder if anyone could help.

I've just received a Pi 4 8Gb. I downloaded the standard PI image (with extra software) and flashed it to a 32Gb MicroSD card.

Popped the card into the Pi, and plugged it in.

I get the solid red, and a flash of green, then nothing (other than the solid red).

If I unplug and re-plug it, I get the same, solid red and a flash of green.

Sounds dead. I've seen a lot of these solid red light issues online whilst trying to debug this. Is this an ongoing fault with the hardware, and should I choose something a little more resilient?
