General discussion • Re: RPi 5 as a desktop daily driver?

Smartphones have sort of replaced the PC as a daily driver, but they are not Desktop replacements.
Typing this on a mech keyboard to my Pi5 is not the same as using this forum on a Smartphone.

I have yet to try Android on the Pi5.
Pinephone, Pinetab etc are attempting to get off the closed system, even to the point of using RISC-V in a laptop.

Somewhere I still have a Samsung MP3 player that had it's OS replaced by Rockbox.

I now find Linux less restricting for my Desktop use, perhaps one day for Smartphone too?
With homes getting smarter I can see big processing/AI on the local home server becoming the brains for small handheld display/interfaces.
It is easier to read ebooks on a handheld.

Outside the house is another story, but aren't we supposed to stay home and work there now?
Some attempts to use LoRa as wireless phone replacement. Good enough for SMS style messages now.
Since the Pi5 showed up my old Linux Mint Desktop PC is now under the desk, perhaps to join it's older predecessors under the house in the boat anchor pile.
