Bump. Here are a couple more links for those who want to save time. Introductory blog post and vision post:

Get Started with Embedded Swift on ARM and RISC-V Microcontrollers

A Vision for Embedded Swift
https://github.com/swiftlang/swift-evol ... d-swift.md

It looks nice, I guess. Embedded ecosystems for the hobbyist have never been richer, light years from the old days of 8031/8051/8751 and PIC16F84A. But as an older coder, I struggle to keep up, just like as a casual gamer I struggle to get excited at what seems like a saturated gaming industry these days.

Embedded languages and ecosystems are doing their empire-building. Embedded Swift will have to contend with C++ as competition, unless the Swift folks have a strategy to compete with scripting languages' ease of use. For me, it would be fun to watch from the sidelines, because I don't have enough brain cells to fit all of it in -- other stuff would leak out; I can't even keep up with newer C++ standards these days. I'm sticking to C for my Pico and PIC fun.
