The issue here is that the GPU is so weak it's not really worth the effort when, ironically, the CPU on the PI 5 is much much stronger than the GPU

Agreed and the CM5 is a big step over the CM4 which was always marginal on capacity for our application (and supply so we had to drop using it). But we can always use more processing power for audio effects or whatever as a parallel process, and to have it on the CM5 unused is frustrating.
