The suggested solution so far has been "re-install from scratch", which is always a "solution" (in practice it really isn't, for obvious reasons) so I don't see any upsides to it.That is exactly what the issue is. If you are happy with that possibility and happy you can resolve it then fine.I don't have GUI or audio, and it honestly still all sounds kinda "you may or may not have a problem in the future"![]()
Fair enough. I do think that there's no real solution to this as long as the official documentation doesn't mention upgrading major versions. Then again, if the official documentation is just going to say "re-install from scratch" then I don't think anyone will actually follow it because ain't nobody got time for that.If you do report issues you have in the future, then make sure "bullseye, manually upgraded to bookworm" is the first thing mentioned.
We see a lot of posts here with "The kernel isn't updating on my RPiOS Bookworm image".
And it requires playing 20 questions to eke out the obvious reason why things aren't behaving as desired.
If they would take longer to resolve I can always always re-install. In most contexts, a pre-emptive re-install like that is never better value than just running a few commands and seeing if it will work. For most users, spending a couple of hours doing a clean install of bookworm, installing needed packages, then copying data files across
is actually good value, compared to potential future problems, that may take a lot longer to resolve.
